About PetSpec

The PetSpec Professional range of canine additives have been formulated to ensure that dogs used for specialist purposes (e.g. shooting, trialling, showing) or those subject to stress or old age have the additional nutritional support they need to maximise performance and maintain a long healthy life.

Fresh raw meat traditionally fed to hard working dogs provided them with the protein for muscle development and function. It also provided the energy for work and the essential vitamins and minerals needed for optimum development and performance.

Modern processed dog foods are produced in two ways:

  • either high-temperature cooked to eliminate harmful bacteria (e.g. salmonella) and
put into tins or flexible sachets.
  • extruded to produce the dry dog foods used by most owners. Extruded food is produced by injecting steam and pressure to the food mix and then flash-drying it up to temperatures of over 80 degrees Centigrade.

Some micronutrients (e.g. vitamins) are very sensitive to heat and the PetSpec Professional range is designed to ensure that dogs performing at the highest levels have highly available nutritional support for optimum performance. Deficiencies of these micronutrients can lead to skin and coat problems, poor performance, lack of stamina and many other issues.

"Our dogs work so hard, we put big mental and physical demands on them. Our demonstration team goes to 23 major shows and countless one day appearances during the summer, then the shooting season places huge demands on the dogs during the winter. Adding PetSpec to our dogs diet ensures we keep these amazing athletes in tip-top condition."
